February 2024 Newsletter

     BETTER LATE THAN NEVER! 

My monthly newsletter is very late!  it was an incredibly busy month for the Southwest Florida Fine Craft Guild but I am happy to report that all our endeavors have been great successes.  The Fine Craft Expo served 90 students and made money for the Cape Coral Art Center.  Our raffle, thanks to your donated art, also made $500 for for our scholarship fund.  Our show "Expressions" was beautiful.  Thanks to all who helped and/or participated!     We also enjoyed our guest speaker and long-time member, Ann Dalton, whose informative talk helped us all understand more about copyright law.

Art Council Spring Show

On even numbered years our umbrella organization, the Art Council of Southwest Florida,  sponsors an all-council show, inviting all 21 Art Council affiliate member groups.  So, being an affiliate, our guild is cordially invited to this regional exhibit.  It is an honor just to be accepted but I am hoping many members will enter. 

The details are: Entry fees are $40 for one piece and $60 for two pieces.

All entries will be submitted digitally as directed on the entry form.  That form will be available on March 13th to delegates and we will get that out to our guild members promptly.

Receiving:  May 8th at Coco Gallery Estero

Reception: May 9th

Removal: June 2nd

Specific times will be announced on March 13th.  Awards will be given to 1st place - $300, 2nd place - $200, 3rd place - $100,  There will also be a People's Choice award that the public will vote on during the month of the show.  That $50 award will be given after the exhibit is over and all the ballots have been tallied. We encourage ALL our members to show their very best pieces at this exciting exhibit opportunity!  

 TIME TO RETURN YOUR CANVAS BOARDS!  

Our group project, "Fabulous Florida" will be exhibited as two large art quilt-style boards exhibit in May at Cape Coral Art Center side gallery.  The Reception is May 10h from 5 to 7pm at CCAC.  We have 52 squares and would like to have 60. SO PLEASE TURN IN YOUR FINISHED SQUARE AT THE MARCH MEETING!
