It was a very good season!
s we end another season, I wanted to share my delight in all the achievements that our guild accomplished this year. Most notable, my eternal thanks to our hard working board members, officers, volunteer and all members who contributed with their participation.
Earlier in the season, we had two beautiful exhibits, December was our Coco Estero show in which we had 97 entries and many sales! February kept us busy with a very successful Fine Craft Expo in conjunction with the dazzling Expressions show at Cape Coral Art Center. Many of us also participated in the Art Center's student and instructor exhibits.
This month, May 2024, brings our long-awaited "Fabulous Florida" show also at CCAC. FORTY of our own members decorated and donated 8x8" squares which were organized into "art quilt" displays. We also have 31 additional entries celebrated our Florida theme. This show was planned to aid in our fundraising efforts and we did well.. The show is now on display until the end of May and is so colorful!
Since almost everyone participated and/or entered, am I hoping I will see many members at the Opening Reception on May 10th from 5pm to 7pm. Thanks to all who selflessly created and donated art for this show. We've decided to sell the squares at the next Fine Craft Expo during the raffle. We hope that excitement will spill over to more sales of our squares. art.
Speaking of fundraising, I am also happy to report that the Southwest Florida Fine Craft Guild awarded FIVE $500 college scholarships and FIVE $250 high school scholarships! We were also able to aid FIVE needy art students, enabling them to attend a week of CCAC's Creativity Camp, the summer art program. I am bursting with pride and have to say, it was a very good season!
ART COUNCIL SPRING SHOW!
The Art Council holds all-affiliate shows each year, alternating between the Spring Show on even numbered years and the Winner's Circle show on odd years. This year's Spring Show is already closed for entries but has a celebratory reception coming up on May 9th at Coco Gallery in Estero from 5 to 7pm. Several of your fellow members have entered so consider attending and joining in a wonderful art event!
